My Beloved SisterHave you ever had a long lost sister that you never knew? What about a surprise to reunite you with your big sister? And what if that dream of having your big sister back is shattered? This is my story.Three years ago, my mom got a call when I was at school. It was my big sister's auntie. My big sister's auntie told my mom where she and my sister were living. My mom was so surprised. It has been six years since my parents had last seen my big sister. Fourteen years ago, before I was even born, my sister Yamilet moved out of the house. She went with her boyfriend to start a family. When my sister moved she didn't tell my parents where she was going. That was the last day they ever saw her. Later that day when I got home from school, my parents told me we were going to Los Angeles. I found out we were going to Los Angeles to meet my big sister whom I had never met. At that moment I couldn't believe I had a sister. Why hadn't they told me sooner? Then a week passed. We were leaving the next day. When we got to the apartment where we were staying, there was my sister in the flesh. I was so happy I started to cry. She hugged me so tight like a bear. We spent a week in Los Angeles and we asked my sister if she wanted to come back to Oakland with us. She jolted out, "yes!" So she came home with us. When my parents weren't home, she would play with me. She would also chase me down and wet me with a water gun. One day she went to buy groceries because we were going to have a party. She didn't know but there was a robbery in progress. The robbers noticed my sister didn't know so they flashed their guns. She was shocked and paralyzed. Thank god the cops showed up. When she came home she told us the story with tears in her eyes. "I'm leaving back home," she said. I felt like if my heart was torn in half and a shot had just gone through it. I broke down crying. "I'm going back home to try to get in the navy," she said. I haven't seen her since then. My dad told me she is in Iraq fighting. I can tell you in five words what I'm feeling. "Please be safe my big sister."
