I am from a small Windows XP laptop sitting on a desk in my room,
from incense sticks and tons of broken toys.
I am from white rice with interesting and simple soups,
from tofu skin noodles and stir fried bok choy.
I am from white, rocky, crystalline fertilizer,
from giant pumpkin plant leaves,
from bright red roses and low yellow and purple flowers.
I am from tons of Razor scooters (mine is a Razor A2),
from two of those electric toy cars you can ride,
from orange basketballs to white, green, and red basketballs.
I am from Awan, Zhuanhong, Jialiang, Karen, Qinglin,
from Jennifer.
I am from "sighs" and "Good job!",
from "Oh my God!",
from the occasional "You're weird,"
from almost anybody I know.
I am from the jet black photo albums,
from my brain and the 512 MB flash memory cards.
I am from the metropolis of Shanghai, China, on Earth.
