Walking the Wrong WayClick here to open another window and hear the poet read her poem!(you can then click back on this window to read the words while you listen!) I am from a small neighborhood From BART stations, and a church Wide streets and wandering cars. I'm from flea markets with hot dogs And looking out the window, just plain B-O-R-E-D. I am from sunny Sundays And the tiny post office And mail boxes full of junk. I'm from white, puffy rice, and strawberries with ice cream. I'm from "misssy" And "Becky, I'm bored." I am from walking the wrong way, But making it to where I want to go. I am from laughing at yearbooks And popcorn fights. I am from Berkeley, California And shopping malls. I am from sushi boats. I'm from College Ave. And Shattuck Ave. I am from rose bushes And apple trees. I am from dreams And photos. I'm from music, Miss Murder On my iPod. I am from hair ties, I am from memories, Dreams, And, years to come. Rebecca Grade 7 Albany |
