We use Manila software. Here are some links that can be useful:
Some places to see examples of BAWP-related weblogs:
  • Galileo Academy - The most extensive implementation yet. The linked page provides a tour of how we're using Manila.
  • Young Writers Camps - In its second year, this site demonstrates the use of Manila for publication of final student work.
  • Sequoia Elementary School - A gradually growing instance of Manila for use in an elementary school.
  • Deborah Brown, TC - Deborah is actively using Manila in her middle school writing classroom.

About BAWP's Tech News

The Bay Area Writing Project (BAWP) is a collaborative program between UC Berkeley and Bay Area schools. As founding site of the National Writing Project, for over 30 years BAWP has been a vital resource for teachers and schools in the Bay Area and beyond, not only in the teaching of writing but also as a model of professional development, teacher leadership and reform.

Since 1999, BAWP has investigated and implemented various approaches to the integration of technology into the teaching and learning of writing in classrooms. Recognized by NWP as one of five lead sites in its federally funded Technology Initiative,  we offer this Tech News weblog as a public resource, documenting our activities, inquiries, challenges and achievements. We welcome your interest. Please contact us with any requests or questions:

Where are we at with this?

Perhaps the place to start is with renaming the site? Yes, yes, there will be "tech news" within the project, but there will be more general news than just tech news. There's talk of making the home page portal much simpler. This blog could easily be renamed, have its url changed, and serve as the central news site for all of BAWP.
