Every time that I go to the dentist, I'm admonished for not flossing enough. The tartar and plaque builds up.

I realize that not doing the weblog on a regular basis is similar. The plaque is building up in my brain, and I can't remember how to flip a page, etc.

Remember those pink tablets that we'd chew to show where the plaque was still sticking to our teeth? Well, my weblog site would be very, very pink right now.

Help! I'm stuck in March, 2002!
I can't seem to flip my page, so I can catch up with everyone. It's really Monday, July 1, 2002, and it's very hot in the Bay Area. I think that I'm in a kind of Groundhog Day blog reality. For the rest of my life, I will see this "Apologies for Saturday" weblog entry...

APOLOGIES FOR SATURDAY...

I am sorry that my immune system is not cooperating with my spirit, which would like to participate in Saturday's continuation of the Digital Institute. Hopefully, I virtually will be able to see bits and pieces of all the fun soon. And perhaps the other half of my stipend could be given to other bloggers :-).

Even though I won't be able to attend Saturday's workshop, I have a few reflections. I realize that my questions are probably being answered this morning, but it would be great if anyone is willing to share her/his insights:

STACY UYEDA

Every year, my husband, Tony, and I make a different holiday card. Notice Grumble and Psi, the parachuting ratties, of 2001!

holidaycard:

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

I am the Teacher Librarian at Willard Middle School in Berkeley. This is a new and exciting position for me, as I have been a seventh grade humanities teacher there for six years. Our library was the "forgotten land," a place where no one -- student or teacher -- wanted to go. It has been very refreshing this year to have worked to transform the library into a very popular and high-traffic zone. I have had the wonderful opportunity to plan and teach with teachers across the curricula, as well as to coordinate school-wide activities, such as doll-making workshops and the creation of an Underground Railroad school quilt!

See my humble, beginner's library website at www.geocities.com/willardlibrary!

When I'm not teaching and library-ing, I love to spend time with my husband, Tony, and two pet rats, Grumble and Psi. I love animals, cooking, reading, movies, and volcanoes. During the winter break, Tony and I hiked in the Yosemite Valley. After a series of amazing hikes to Yosemite Falls and Mirror Lake, we both had strange dreams about intruders entering our lodge room.

Here are some connections to great BAWP folk:

  • Evan and I were in the 2000 Summer Institute together; we all called it "Camp BAWP." Please check out his website for beatific photographs of his beautiful baby daughter!
  • Carol and I share many common experiences and laughs over our Japanese American heritage.
  • Claire and E'leva have a true virtual connection. Through Claire's super professional weblog, I was able to connect to E'leva's beautiful and impressive career outlook!

Pat and Chris are very good teachers. After their short list of instructions and tips, I was able to change their short list of instructions and tips!
