response to a response
In response to my entry, Karen wrote, "I would love a workshop dedicated to getting images into my site. I did
it once, but the pictures were gigantic. I need a little more polish on
my skills. I was happy to see the names of software you use: Picture It
and, of course, Photoshop."
Well, most photo programs will offer a way to re-size your photo and I
found it easier to do this outside of the website rather than after the
upload. Photoshop is a professional program and I really, really
want to learn it. I have Photoshop but it is one that I could just jump
into like the simpler ones so I just don't use it. # - Department: TI Reflection - 10/15/05; 12:12:10 PM - Discuss
Reflective Journal Entry 10-15-05
When multi-media and web-based tools are integrated into the classroom, the teacher may feel more compelled to spend more time with the student in the editing process since the product will be more public than a one-to-one audience assignment.
I would like to have more training in Photoshop and how to create GIF files since many of us use graphics on our sites. Also, in using the website with students, they'd likely be more interested in using digital tools with images. I use Microsoft Picture It but I know that it is more limited than Photoshop.
I use my old BAWP blogsite to keep the parents updated on what we're doing in class. I just uploaded a photo onto my class blog site this morning . It's a compilation photo of the kids symmetrical name pictures they created this week. Check it out by clicking on the Dazzling Dragon's Symmetrical Names. (our class name is Dazzling Dragons) # - Department: TI Reflection - 10/15/05; 10:16:52 AM - Discuss (2 responses)

First September Tech Workshop at Galileo
I am learning to tweak the things I've learned and I've added to my repetoir of technology data. I am able to work on my class website inbetween since I'm already savvy on much of this (good thing). # - Department: TI Reflection - 9/17/05; 12:10:04 PM - Discuss

Prompt 4 Day Four
My question for you all: What ideas and suggestions do you have to help BAWP extend this collaborative technology exploration community into next school year and beyond?
To facilitate our using this technology in the classroom, I suggest that you get us a version of Adobe Premiere to use on our classroom or home computers. The workshop tech's said that there is a much less expensive version of the program and it's called Adobe Premiere Elements which can be purchased in a bundled set with Adobe Photoshop Elements. Click here to find out more.
Also, I would really love to have a CD with everyone's movie on it!!!
Lastly (for now), I think everyone's photo should be posted on their blog sites also because I can't remember everyone's name and even if I see their name, I can't attach a face to it. I don't know who is who in here.

Reflection 2
re: For today's reflection writing, please post a news item on your weblog responding to the following prompt:
As usual in a BAWP professional development workshop, you're getting to ''write'' (with multimedia, in this case) and to think about doing the same writing in your classrooms with your students. What are your thoughts about where such multimedia composing might take you either as a writer or as a teacher?
As a teacher: I can see setting up a much more simplistic system for my kids since they are only in second grade. For example, my class does animal research reports every year; I can see having them research and write their piece as usual, and then recording their report as we recorded our narratives as a wave file. I would use parent volunteers to pull kids aside and help them find images on the web (probably using Google) to use on their timeline. I may even help them scan at least one drawing to include in their piece. At the end, I can record all of their video reports onto a CD and make copies for each of them. Perhaps we will call it an "educational CD" for presentation to younger grades and an "informational CD" for their parents (and an "assessment CD" for me). # - Department: TI Reflection - 8/10/05; 3:51:38 PM - Discuss (1 response)
