NWP Annual Meeting

Each year, the NWP Annual Meeting is held in conjunction with the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Conference and offers an array of interactive workshop sessions, roundtable discussions, and demonstrations of successful practice, many of which come from proposals submitted by site leaders and teacher-consultants from across the network. All of this and the chance to be among colleagues makes the meeting a much-anticipated and well-attended event. This year it will take place on Friday, Nov. 22nd at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Director Carol Tateishi is truly thrilled that so many BAWP TCs will attend, representing our project in a variety of ways.

BAWP attendees will include:
  • Pirette McKamey, Thurgood Marshall HS, SFUSD - Teacher Research Collaborative
  • Lynn Scott, Maxwell Park Elem, OUSD - Teacher Research Collaborative
  • Michelle Quraishi, Mills Children's School - BAWP's rep to the NWP Urban Sites Network
  • Helen Ying, English Language Center, Hayward - former BAWP co-director, ELL-related programs
  • Sim Chiang, UC Berkeley - Teacher Research Collaborative
  • Betty Pazmino, Cesar Chavez Elem, SFUSD - BAWP's new rep to the NWP ELL Network
  • Rebeca Garcia-Gonzalez, Sacramento State - BAWP's ELL Network
  • Greta Vollmer, Sonoma State - BAWP's current rep to the NWP ELL Network
  • Evan Nichols, Sequoia Elem, OUSD - BAWP's Tech Liaison
  • Patrick Delaney, MLK Middle School, SFUSD - NWP Tech Design Team and former Tech Liaison

Co-Director Marty Williams, of course, will be going too. TC Liz Simons of BACES will be there for the NWP and TC Patsy Lockhart will be attending NCTE joining for some of the NWP events.

Food is always an important item for BAWP folks at the Annual Meeting. One of the really fun parts of being out-of-town together is the social part, so Saturday evening is reserved as a time when TCs can all have dinner together.
