Week 13:   Mission

This week is our first week in the final unit of the course:  Transferring Information.  We're definitely in the final throes of our work...I can see flickers of light at the end of a tunnel.

Class Meeting:  November 19, 2003

This week we will not meet online (I'll be in San Fransisco for a conference; returning home on Sunday night).

Assignment 4.1.1:  MRP:  Tie the Threads
Due:  November 23, 2003 (midnight)

This week you need to finish up with organizing how you want people to enter your MRP, how you want them to navigate through the MRP, and how you want to be sure to represent a credible resource (think all the way back to when we evaluated web sites...what did you learn back then about how to establish credibility on a web site?).

Assignment 4.1.2:  Peer Response Groups
Due:  November 23, 2003 (midnight)

This week, let's think about peer response in a different way.  Peer response groups are ideally focused on content, not mechanics.  That means that editing (which is mechanics) is not the focus of peer response, although can be added.  For this assignment, I'd like you to think about the feedback you received relating to the content of your work.  Send an email to the class list that responds to the following questions/prompts:

  1. Quote three specific pieces of feedback (not the whole response, just parts of a response) that you received on your work that were particularly helpful to you in revising (not editing, revising the content).
  2. Provide three examples (with links, please) of three responses you gave to someone else that were most likely to assist them in revising (not editing).
  3. Examine your responses to each of the above and write about what this information tells you about the kind of peer responses you give.
  4. Write a goal (any form will do here) for yourself as a peer responder.  Specifically (this is an important word as I don't mean generally), the next time you participate in a peer response group, what do you intend to do differently.

Assignment 4.1.3: Online Journal
Due:  November 23, 2003 (midnight)

Sometime between Friday (November 21) and Sunday (November 23) at midnight, post your weekly online journal.  Please note that this assignment, unlike most of the others, does NOT enjoy the two week completion time.  In other words, your online journal postings must be made each week (between Friday and Sunday midnight as explained in the instructions) in order to receive credit for them.  Please review the Instructions for Online Journals to ensure acceptable completion  of this assignment.
